Time:
Ingredients
500 g Potatoes
500 g Yoghurt
1 tsp Cumin
Salt according to taste
How to prepare Aloo ka Raita
First of all you need to boil the potatoes in a pot with water until they are soft. This can take about fifteen minutes. You can check whether they are soft simply by sticking a knife into the bigger ones. If it goes in and out without difficulty, your potatoes are ready!
Pour out the water and shortly pour cold water over them. This will make it easier to remove the skin from the potatoes which is the next thing you will need to do. Peel the potatoes and cut them in cubes afterwards.
Stir the yoghurt with a spoon and thus make it a bit loose. Don’t blend it in a blender which would make it too liquid. Add some salt according to taste and stir again. Now you put the potato pieces into the yoghurt and gently stir again.
Finally you roast the cumin in a pan without adding fat. You need to keep on stirring and you can watch the cumin change its colour to a dark brown. It will smell deliciously in your kitchen!
Once it is roasted, put it into a mortar and grind it to make it to powder. Spread it over the yoghurt, stir and – if you like – save some for decoration.
Enjoy your Aloo ka Raita!
