Gajar Patta Gobhi - Cabbage with Carrots

500 g Cabbage
500 g Carrot
1 tsp Cumin
1 tbsp Vegetable Oil
1 tsp Black Mustard Seeds
1 tsp Garam Masala
Salt according to taste
How to prepare Gajar Patta Gobhi
Wash the carrots and the cabbage. Take off the outermost leaf of the cabbage and cut the rest of the cabbage into small pieces, taking out the stem. Wash the carrots well and, if you like, peel them. Cut off a piece on each side and cut them into pieces as well.
Heat up the oil in a deep pan. Add cumin, mustard and garam masala and stir while frying the spices on medium heat. Once they have developed their aroma, add the carrot into the pan. Stir, so that it mixes with the spices, add salt and stir again. Cover the pan for about ten minutes. Stir from time to time.
After ten minutes, open the lid and add the cabbage into the pan. Stir once more so that the vegetables nicely mix with each other and the spices. Place the lid back onto the pan and let it get cooked for five minutes more.
Finally, you can open the lid, stir and let it cook for another five minutes while the lid is open. Any water that has accumulated at the bottom of the pot will vaporize. Once it is gone and your vegetables are well cooked, you can switch off your stove.
