Get a special drink this summer full of calcium and vitamins and super delicious! Mango, a fruit without comparison, together with milk or yoghurt!
How to make Mango Shake or Mango Lassi?
There are many different sorts of mangoes, some very sweet and some rather a bit sour. We used the sweet kind for these recipes, the ‘Alphonso Mango’.
For both, the mango shake and the mango lassi, you would need to first peel the mango, cut the fruit into pieces and make sure to get as much pulp off the stone as possible. Then you give the pulp pieces into a blender and mash them.
If you are making mango shake, you now add the powdered sugar into the fruit pulp and blend it shortly again, so that the sugar gets nicely mixed with the pulp. If you want your shake to be sweet, you can even add some more sugar. After that you take the mix out of the blender and put it into a glass. Add the milk and stir your shake with a spoon – done!
If you want to make mango lassi, you need to first blend your yoghurt a bit for it to become more liquid. It is now up to you how liquid or thick you like your lassi. You blend the yoghurt and then slowly pour the water into it. If you like the lassi thick, don’t use as much water and if you like it thin, use some more. When adding the sugar, keep in mind that you need a bit more for lassi than for a mango shake as yoghurt is in general a bit sourer than milk. Obviously however that is according to taste. Blend the sugar shortly with the yoghurt and water and take it out. Pour it into a glass together with the mango pulp, stir it and there you are – a delicious mango lassi!
So you see, two easy, quick and really tasty mango drinks that taste good in summer, especially if you cool them down in the fridge before drinking!
