Ingredients
500 g Cabbage
500 g Bell Pepper
1 tbsp Olive Oil
½ tsp Cumin Seeds
½ tsp Black Mustard Seeds
1 tsp Coriander Powder
½ tsp Garam Masala
Salt according to taste
How to make Patta Gobhi Shimla Mirch
Start the preparations by washing your cabbage and bell peppers. Take off the outer leaf of the cabbage which is often dirty or dry. Cut the cabbage in two halves and cut out the stump from both sides. Cut the cabbage in fine stripes. The seeds of the bell pepper have to be removed and the bell pepper itself cut into medium-sized pieces.
Heat up the oil in a deep pan or wok. When it is hot, add cumin, mustard and coriander powder and stir the spices so that they can get fried a bit while they develop their aroma. Add the cabbage into the pot, stir well and then cover it with a lid. Let the cabbage get cooked in the next five minutes. You don’t need to pay much attention to this dish and may prepare other parts of the menu.
After five minutes, add the bell pepper into the pan, stir well once more and then cover the dish for another five minutes.
Finally, lift the lid, sprinkle garam masala and salt over the vegetables and that’s it! Your Patta Gobhi Simly Mirch is done!
If you prefer your vegetables to be softer, you can keep them on the stove a while longer, the lid on the pan. It is a matter of taste and you are the creator, so simply be flexible and creative!
Enjoy!
