Ingredients
- 1 cup Basmati Rice
- 2 cups Water
- 1 tbsp Ghee (or Coconut Oil for vegan)
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 1/4 tsp Cumin Powder
- Pinch of Asafoetida (Hing)
- Salt to taste
- Fresh Cilantro for garnish

Instructions
- Wash the basmati rice thoroughly until the water runs clear.
- In a pot, heat ghee (or coconut oil) over medium heat.
- Add turmeric powder, cumin powder, and asafoetida. Sauté for a few seconds until fragrant.
- Add the washed rice and salt. Stir well to coat the rice with the spices.
- Pour in the water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for 20-25 minutes, or until the rice is cooked and the water is absorbed.
- Let the rice sit for 5 minutes before fluffing with a fork.
- Garnish with fresh cilantro and serve hot.
